Abu Simbel temples
Abu Simbel temples

Abu Simbel temples are Impressive buildings built thousands of years ago. Every year the people gathered from all over the world around Abu Simbel temples in the southern city of Aswan to watch the rare phenomenon, which occurs only twice a year.
on 21 February, and 21 October Only on these two days, the sun shines in the sacred chamber, lighting up three of the four statues. The one left without rays being the god of darkness.

Note:
Note:

You have to know that the place you visit now is not the original place where the temples stand. Egypt built the High Dam after the growing need for electricity in 1960 and as a direct result, the Dam created Lake Nasser and rising waters flooded a number of important archaeological sites along the banks of the Nile. The rising waters threatened the temples at Abu Simbel and the United Nations Education, Science, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) orchestrated a massive construction project that moved the temple back 180 meters and 65 meters up, Cutting the entire site into large blocks, dismantled them, numbering then and reconstructed them in the new site took 4 years between 1964-1968.to save the two temples from the rising water of the Lake Nasser, growing behind Aswan dam. The only result of the move is that the days of illumination have delayed one day. It means now we celebrate it on 22 February and 22 October instead of the twenty-first.
